Sliders vs Cubs

Weather: Cloudy, wet at times.  Edit: It became sunny later on, to the point that Jonny couldn’t see.

With grounds work under way, Cubs kindly accommodated the Sliders at Strandtown so our 1st home away took place away!  Cubs opened the scoring with a run on the board, before Sliders responded with 3 of their own as Tim lead off for the season with a double and was scored by Kirsty with an RBI single.  Cubs fought back, aided by some speedy base runners, but bottom of the order got the Sliders rally going again to add another 6 to the count including a triple for Gregg.  As Sliders defence tightened conceding no runs at top of 3, the bats got warm with a further 7 added by the bottom of 3.  Cubs Chris and Sliders Jonny did great job finding the strike zone while being blinded by the setting sun, and Chris contributed to all the Cubs outs as Sliders failed to reach homeplate in the 4th.  5 was the magic number for the 5th and 6th innings, with home runs from Tim and Casey bringing the final tally to 26:12 for the 1st win of the season.
