Congratulations to the Belfast Sliders who took home silver in the 2022 Softball Ulster League Division A. This is the Sliders' highest league ranking since winning the league in 2015. Special thanks go to Kirsty Briggs and Timothy Rankin for co-captaining the season.
The Belfast Sliders made the long journey to Cork on Friday 12th August 2022 to participate in the first full-weekend Irish Open Softball Tournament (IOST) since 2019. Hoping to retain the plate that they won in 2019, the Sliders faced off against 11 other teams to ultimately rank 7th overall in the standings – competing once again for the plate. Unfortunately in the plate semi-final, the Sliders were unable to hold their own against the Hypnotists and lost 8-0 in their final game of the tournaments.
The new look Softball Ulster League kicks off on Sunday 1st May 2022 with the first round of games, which will determine who participates in the new league divisions. The Belfast Sliders will have their first game at home (Hydebank Playing Fields) on Monday 2nd May at 1900 against new league team the Cyclones.
Training for the 2022 softball season has already begun at Dixon Park Playing Fields in Belfast. Training will continue at Dixon Park Playing Fields every Wednesday evening from 6.30pm, and every Sunday morning from 10.30am (excluding 10th and 17th April). All new and returning players are welcome.
On Saturday 25th September 2021 Belfast Sliders Softball Club had their annual end of season awards dinner. Awards up for grabs included the most valuable players, most improved players, rookie of the year and home run champion.
The 2021 Softball Ulster League commences this weekend, with the Belfast Sliders having their first game at home on Monday 31st May at 1900 against the Smokin' Aces.
Training for the 2021 softball season has begun. Belfast Sliders Softball Club returned to their former home grounds at Dixon Park Playing Fields on Wednesday 14th April 2021 for the first training session of the season. Attendance was excellent, which included some new faces for the upcoming season.
The Belfast Sliders held their Annual General Meeting on Saturday 6th March 2021, with a good attendance from the membership. Agreed at the meeting was the new Organising Council for 2021. The Council consists of:
The Softball Ulster Annual General Meeting took place on Saturday 28th November 2020 and the club would like to congratulate Andrew Craven on his successful election as Chairperson of Softball Ulster. Andrew served for five years as the Secretary of Softball Ulster from 2015 to 2019 before stepping down to join the Softball Ireland Board in 2020.
On Saturday 24th October 2020 Belfast Sliders Softball Club used some internet trickery to organise their annual end of season awards. Due to coronavirus the annual dinner had to be postponed, but that didn't stop the team from celebrating the players that braved the pandemic and participated in the 2020 season. As always, the awards up for grabs included the most valuable players, most improved players, rookie of the year and home run champion.
