Sliders at Start of Season Blitz 2019

The Belfast Sliders entered the Softball Ulster Start of Season Blitz on Saturday 13th April 2019. This tournament was one of the best attended for the Sliders, with Captain Marian joined by Vice Captain Jonny and regular Sliders William, Tim, Dan, Christina, Paul, John, Andrew, Kirsty, Jay, Emma, Michal, Laura and Gregg, along with relative newcomers Casey and Lindsay.

Sliders at JIST 2019

The Belfast Sliders once again travelled to Dublin City University on Saturday 26th January to take part in the January (Dublin) Indoor Softball Tournament (JIST) 2019.  Eight Sliders (Emma, Jay, Kirsty Laura, Andrew, Casey, Michal and Tim) made the trip to Dublin with the hope of improving upon their ninth place finish in November.

Sliders at DIST 2018

The Belfast Sliders recently travelled to Dublin City University to take part in the Dublin Indoor Softball Tournament (DIST).  In total eight Sliders (Marian, Laura, Jay, Emma, Andrew, Tim, Dan and Michal), plus newcomer Casey made the early start trip to Dublin to play against eleven other teams in the hopes of winning the coveted prize of the DIST hoodies.

Sliders Awards 2018

On Saturday 12th October the Belfast Sliders Softball Club had their annual end of season awards dinner. Awards up for grabs included the most valuable players, most improved players, rookie of the year and home run champion.  The team also celebrate and reflected on their third place league finish, with bronze medals handed out to the team at the Softball Ulster end of season awards the previous week.

Sliders at IOST 2018

The Belfast Sliders (Marian, Jay, Kirsty, Emma, Laura, Andrew, Tim, Jonny, Michal, Matias), plus Cubby from the Cubs, made the long trek from Belfast to Limerick to participate in the Irish Open Softball Tournament (IOST) for the third year in a row.  The tournament took place over two days, with a packed schedule of softball keeping the team busy throughout.  Favourable weather helped the spirits, especially when compared with the monsoon that was the previous year.

Bucs v Sliders Recap

On Sunday 1st July the Sliders took a trip to Bangor to play the Buccaneers and again it was a hot one!  The Bucs, much like the Angels, have a lot of new players still learning the game.  The Sliders gave all of their available rookies a start and this led to a very high scoring game.  The Sliders batted first and once again got off to a good start scoring eight, Tim opening things up with a home run.  The Sliders fielded well despite the large number of rookies in the side and held the Bucs to one run.

Angels v Sliders Recap

The Sliders travelled to Hydebank Playing Fields on Sunday 24th June for their first game of the season against the Belfast Angels.  Unfortunately the Angels were playing shorthanded, but they gave us a great game and a chance to mix things up for the afternoon on the Sliders team.
