Following on from its abrupt cancellation during lockdown, and the truncated Softball Ulster League season, Sliders Fitness officially returned 11.30am on Sunday 20th September 2020 at Hydebank Parks and Playing fields.

The shortened 2020 season is due to kick off this Sunday at Hydebank Playing Fields as the Belfast Sliders play the first of their double-headers, beginning with the Smokin' Aces at 1pm and followed by the Bangor Bucs at 3pm.

The Belfast Sliders have nominated their COVID-19 Officers in order to comply with Softball Ireland's regulations regarding softball training and games during the COVID-19 crisis. Your officers will be Andrew Craven (who also sits on the Softball Ireland Medical Committee) and Jonny Craven.

On Friday 25th October 2019 Belfast Sliders Softball Club had their annual end of season awards dinner. Awards up for grabs included the most valuable players, most improved players, rookie of the year and home run champion. The team also celebrate and reflected on their third place league finish, with Bronze medals expected next week at the Softball Ulster Awards night.

The Sliders win against League Champions the Brawlers to secure a minimum finish of third in the Softball Ulster 2019 League! There was bank holiday sunshine all round as the Belfast Sliders took on the Brawlers in their final game of the 2019 season. The sun made fielding a nightmare for both teams, with the exception of the batters, catchers and home plate umpire Cubby.

The Belfast Sliders bring home Silverware from Limerick! Friday: After a long commute, the Belfast Sliders (Marian, Jay, Emma, Lindsay, Kirsty, Laura, Tim, Michal, Jonny, Dan, Andrew and Casey) headed to the Sports Bar for a quiz, games and music!

Tim lead off with a Homerun and Sliders added another 3, including a William Mitchell homerun, to finish the inning on 4. Not to be outdone Angels responded with 5 of their own. In the 2nd the Sliders girls stepped up and showed how its done as they all got on base, including a double from Kirsty, but Angels racked up another 6 to keep the lead. Time for the Sliders to regroup and refocus. Casey came in to join Tim in centre field while Andrew stepped up to the pitchers plate, not an easy ask with blustery winds helping batters and hindering fielding/pitching. The 3rd inning saw Gregg hit a 2-run homerun – his 1st league homerun! Angels kept the pressure on adding 2 more runs of their own.

With grounds work under way, Cubs kindly accommodated the Sliders at Strandtown so our 1st home away took place away! Cubs opened the scoring with a run on the board, before Sliders responded with 3 of their own as Tim lead off for the season with a double and was scored by Kirsty with an RBI single. Cubs fought back, aided by some speedy base runners, but bottom of the order got the Sliders rally going again to add another 6 to the count including a triple for Gregg.

The Softball Ulster 2019 league schedule has been published and the Sliders now have their league fixtures for the season. Our first game will take place at home, at Dixon Playing Fields, on Monday 20th May. First pitch will be at 7pm, with the Sliders expected from 6.30pm. On Saturday 27th April 2019, the Belfast Sliders travelled to ALSAA in Dublin to attend their first ever Softball Ireland Brian Walshe Cup.
